About the Puppy Age Calculator

Your puppy's first year packs an enormous amount of development into a very short time. Our puppy age calculator tracks your pup's developmental milestones week by week — from eyes opening at week 2, through the critical socialization window at 6–8 weeks, to vaccine completion at 16 weeks and beyond.

Enter your puppy's birthdate to get a personalized milestone calendar, upcoming vaccine reminders, human-age equivalent, and alerts for time-sensitive socialization and training windows.

The critical socialization window: don't miss it

Between 3 and 14 weeks of age, puppies are in a sensitive period when experiences have a disproportionately strong impact on their adult temperament. Positive exposure to different people, sounds, environments, other animals, handling, and novel objects during this window is the single most effective predictor of a well-adjusted adult dog. Missing this window is not catastrophic, but remediation takes much more effort.

Puppy vaccination schedule overview

6–8 weeks: DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parvo, parainfluenza) — first core vaccine, often given by breeder. 10–12 weeks: DHPP booster, Bordetella, leptospirosis. 14–16 weeks: DHPP booster, Rabies (legally required in most jurisdictions). 12–16 months: DHPP and Rabies boosters (1-year protocol). After this: DHPP every 1–3 years; Rabies per local law.
