Common Percentage Mistakes to Avoid
Percent increase vs. percent of: these are different calculations. A 20% increase on $100 gives $120, not 20% of $120 ($24). When something 'increases by 20%,' you multiply by 1.20. When something 'is 20% of' another number, you multiply the other number by 0.20.
