Calculadora de Retirada para Aposentadoria

The retirement withdrawal calculator helps you plan sustainable withdrawals from your retirement savings — whether from a 401(k), IRA, or other investment accounts — to avoid outliving your money.

The famous '4% rule' (from the Trinity Study) suggests you can withdraw 4% of your portfolio in year one, then adjust for inflation, and the money should last 30 years with a diversified portfolio.

This calculator lets you model different withdrawal rates, expected investment returns, and time horizons to find a sustainable withdrawal strategy for your specific situation.

The 4% Rule and Retirement Withdrawals

The 4% rule: withdraw 4% of your portfolio in year 1, then increase by inflation each year. With a 60/40 stock/bond portfolio, this has historically succeeded over 30-year periods.

However, the 4% rule was calculated for 30-year retirements. If you retire at 55 or plan for 40+ years, a lower rate (3–3.5%) may be safer.

Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs)

The IRS requires you to take minimum withdrawals from traditional IRA and 401(k) accounts starting at age 73 (as of 2023, per the SECURE 2.0 Act).

RMDs are calculated based on your account balance and IRS life expectancy tables. Failing to take RMDs results in a 25% penalty on the amount not withdrawn.

The 4% rule is a common guideline for 30-year retirements. For longer retirements (40+ years), 3–3.5% is safer. Your ideal rate depends on portfolio composition, flexibility, and other income sources.
