How to Calculate Stock Investment Returns
Total cost = Number of shares × Purchase price + Commission. Current value = Number of shares × Current price. Profit/Loss = Current value − Total cost. ROI% = (Profit/Loss ÷ Total cost) × 100.
Break-even price accounts for commissions: Break-even = (Total cost + Sell commission) ÷ Number of shares.
