Calculating a birth year from an age — or an age from a birth year — is a simple arithmetic task that nonetheless trips people up because of how birthdays interact with the calendar year. If you are 30 years old and your birthday has already passed this year, you were born in the current year minus 30. But if your birthday falls later in the year and has not occurred yet, you were born in the current year minus 31. This calculator handles that nuance automatically.

How to Calculate Birth Year from Age
Calculating birth year from age is a simple subtraction: birth year = current year − age. However, there is an important one-year ambiguity depending on whether your birthday has already occurred in the current calendar year.
