About the INSS Consigned Credit Margin Calculator

Brazilian retirees and pensioners receiving INSS benefits can access crédito consignado — a type of loan where repayments are automatically deducted from monthly benefits. Because the repayment is guaranteed by the benefit itself, interest rates are significantly lower than regular personal loans. The maximum portion of your benefit that can be committed to consigned credit is called the margem consignável.

Under Brazilian law, up to 45% of your INSS benefit can be used for consigned credit: 35% for bank loans (crédito consignado bancário), 5% for consigned credit cards (cartão de crédito consignado), and 5% for the RMC (Reserva de Margem Consignável) benefit card. These limits are applied per benefit received.

After the 7.44% readjustment to INSS benefits in 2025, many retirees now have a larger consignable margin — but many existing tools have not been updated. This calculator uses the current benefit amount you enter to compute the exact margins available, estimate maximum loan amounts, and flag how much margin is already committed if you have existing consigned contracts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Crédito consignado is a payroll-deducted loan where repayments are automatically taken from your monthly INSS benefit before you receive it. Because default risk is extremely low, interest rates are typically 1.5–2.0% per month — compared to 5–10% per month for regular personal loans in Brazil.
